Groundhog Day
February 3, 2010
Filed under The World at Large
Every year on February 2nd, Punxsutawney Phil announces if there will be 6 more weeks of winter or if spring will be coming early. People from all over come to Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania to watch the event take place. This year, just like the last, Phil sees his shadow meaning that there will be 6 more weeks of winter.
Punxsutawney Phil is a groundhog; every year he comes out and, legend says, if he sees his shadow there will be 6 more weeks of winter, but if not spring is coming. Groundhog day has been around for a long time. When the Germans settle in America, they brought the holiday with them and ever since, Groundhog Day has been a tradition in Punxsutawney.
So brace yourself for 6 more weeks of winter and hope that next year Phil shadow will not be seen.
