David Salkowski (Editor-in-chief)

As a senior at the Fort, this is my second year of involvement with our newspaper and my first year as editor.  I am also active in Show Choir, musical ensembles, theatre, and Link Crew.  I like to spend my time outside of school riding my bike, playing mandolin, and being a vegetarian.  After graduation, I plan to double-major in Music and Russian Language at a four-year college on the West Coast and then go on to serve in the Peace Corps.

Sarah Hearton (Publicity/Fundraising)

So..I’m Sarah Hearton. I’m a senior this year. I am very active with school, clubs, volunteer work, and regular jobs as well. I’m a photographer and work at a photography studio, but also work with kids at Jump Indoors. I’m also in the Patriot Pride Show Choir, and am extremely busy with that as well. I love hanging out with friends in the little spare time that I do have, and getting some family time in there is nice too. I plan on moving to Virginia next year for college and attending either the University of Virginia or College of William and Mary, to major in photography and minor in business. Hopefully, one day, I would like to start up a studio of my own. I plan on doing a lot with my future, and I’m determined to achieve it.

Paige Hadler (Fort Report Editor/Copy Editor)

I’m 16 and a junior. I was born in West Moreland, Kansas, but I have lived in South Carolina since I was 3. I work at Possibly Picasso on the weekends. I volunteer in children’s ministry at Seacoast in Summerville. I am also a part of the Leadership team for high school ministry. I want to go to college to be a photojournalist. My life goal is to work for National Geographic or World Vision and to travel as much as possible. This is my first year working on The Patriot Press and I’m very excited for the upcoming year. I’m a writer for Paiges’ Pages and the editor for the Fort Report.

Jessi Mohn (Perspectives Editor)

Hey everyone. I’m 17 years old, and I’m a senior here at Fort. This is my second year being a part of the newspaper staff. I just liked it so much last year that I had to come back this year. This is also my second year coaching volleyball at River Oaks Middle School. I plan to keep coaching there while going through college. I’d like to become a 3rd grade teacher at an elementary school close to River Oaks so I can keep coaching there. I’m currently employed at Frankie’s Fun Park, and have been for the past 6 months. I don’t think they plan on firing me anytime soon, and I’d kind of like to keep the paychecks rolling in. I’d actually really appreciate it if you don’t come visit me. The polo we have to wear is ugly. Thanks. I already know this.

I really like writing about anything really. Give me a topic, and I can go on and on and on. I don’t tend to write about idiotic things. I like writing my pieces so they are interesting to the general public. Read them. Comment them. It boosts my ego a little bit. Have a nice day.

Marcus Backman (Arts & Entertainment Editor)

I am a senior at FDHS, born and raised in Charleston, South Carolina.  This is my second year writing for the newspaper staff.  I am involved with several organizations here at the Fort including FBLA and Link Crew.  My interests include sports, music, and fashion.  After graduation, I plan on attending the University of South Carolina and major in business.

Hannah Whittemore (Sports Editor)

My name’s Hannah Whittemore and I’m a junior at FDHS. I was born and raised here in Charleston.  I do not consider myself a Carolina girl, but I’m a huge Carolina Gamecocks fan. I enjoy the beach. fishin, and pretty much all sports, especially college football. This is my second year writing for the newspaper staff. After high school I plan on going to the University of South Carolina majoring in journalism and, soon after, write for the magazine ‘Sports Illustrated.’ I’ve been playing soccer for nine years, and this is my fifth year playing for the school. I work at American Eagle Outfitters.

Jason Michael (Podcast Editor)

Hello! The name is Jason Michael, and I’m a junior at the Fort this year. I’m a humongous nerd/geek, but I’m okay with it.  Anime, games, music, film, and technology rule my life.  I spend my days on my computer doing those things, sadly.  Film is my passion, and I feel like film is the best way to tell a story.  My favorite film is between The Godfather and Star Wars 5. I’m half white and half asian.  To answer a few questions now, I will post my responses: I don’t eat dog, I don’t know kung-fu or any other martial art, I don’t speak “Asian”, I can drive without killing people.

Alison Kanski (World at Large Editor)

My name is Alison, with one “L,” I’m seventeen and a senior here at Fort. I was born in New Jersey and I’ve lived here for about 10 years. I spend most of my time listening to music or reading. I tend to listen to music most people haven’t heard of, but I like it that way. My hobbies are photography, art, and computers. I’m planning to go to college for advertising or visual communications. My goal in life is to travel the world and experience other cultures. This is my first year on the school newspaper and I am really excited to be part of it this year!

Andrew Locklair (Video)

My name is Andrew Locklair, but I prefer to go by Squirt. It’s kind of fun for me. I am now a senior. This is my second year in a journalism class and if you can’t already tell, I’m on the newspaper staff. I usually get all of my stories from The Daily Show or The Colbert Report. Personally, I think The Colbert Report is much funnier. I’m interested in music. It’s fun stuff and it’s relaxing, too. For news I believe that main sources of information (FOX, CNN, MSNBC) should list facts first before they voice their opinion. It would help their credibility. I’ll try my best to not be opinionated. If I am, then I’ll try to include both sides of a story, unless it’s an editorial or something.

Tyler Aumen

I’m a senior here at FDHS. GO PATRIOTS! I’m a fun person - I love to laugh and make others laugh. I’m an avid ipod hunter, so if you hunt for the ipod also, you’ve probably noticed me on Facebook. I like to act, or try to; I’m in The Breakfast Club as an understudy to Andrew (the jock.) I work at Chick-fil-a on Dorchester Road. I’m the type of person who will be random one second then totally serious the next.

Ashley Landram

I love to bowl and I have won the Scratch Europeans Girls Division for two consecutive years.  I love to hang out with my friends. My favorite TV show is The Simpsons.  I have one sister.  I love my family more than anything in the world. My nickname is “Peanut,” so some of my friends call me that.
