The homecoming game was Friday October 15th. Fort Dorchester played against West Ashley and FDHS won twenty to sixteen. The homecoming nominees were announced during half time.
The freshman princess nominees were: Anna-Marie McCorkle, Shayla Tarplin and Emily Walker.
The winner was Shayla Tarplin with the most votes.
The sophomore nominees were: Kirsten Cresho, Alicia Leavey, Addie Ledbetter, Lesa Luong, Anna Sedar, and Mallory Wallis.
The winner was Anna Sedar.
The junior princess nominees were: Shakayla Bell, Kayla Derhovanesian, Autumn Gathers, Cecelia Rogers, Ellie Snellgrove, and Brianna Shelton.
The winner was Cecilia Rogers.
The queen nominees were: Amy Chapman, Taylor Coxe, Jasmine Ephriam, Morgan Finley, Shanay George, Tanay George, Elizabeth Hilley, Auburn Lamb, Courtney Nowdege, Catherine Nuzum, Kari Sanders, Jennifer Schott, and Megan Clifford.
The winner was Auburn Lamb with the most votes and the first runner up was Jasmine Ephriam with the second most popular vote.
The freshman princess, Anna Sedar, states, “ I feel amazing! I will never forget that moment and it made my sophomore year. It was a surprise to me because you never know what the out come is until that night.” She was asked why she ran for the title and stated, “I decided to run for princess because I wanted to do something to be part of my school. I wanted to have a reason to get all dolled up and just have fun.” Sedar states she doesn’t know if she will run next year or not, “I actually don’t know if I will run again; I will just have to see next year if I’m up for it or not. I may just support someone else and let them become the next princess for junior year.”
One of the voters Diana Perez states she was not happy with the results, “I wanted someone new, not your original homecoming winner. I voted for someone who was different and unique in her own way. Although the person i wanted to win, didn’t I am proud of the winners and congratulate them anyway.”
